Swedish Championship

Soon time for the time trial... I´m a bit nervouse!!
Sorry for not updating before but haven´t got internet. Spain was quit good for me. Was hard, but I knew it would. I ended 28th in the general, and compared with last year that´s a step in right direction, (ended 44th then).
But now, it´s all focus at the time trial!
If I have internet I will update and tell you how it went..
See you!

Durango

Came to Durango this afternoon. Laying in my bed and waiting for the others to come, then dinner.
Have been a long day today. Left home at 6:30 and then the day has been all about waiting, and waiting and some more waiting.
Tomorrow it´s Durango-Durango, which I haven´t done before... We will see how that goes!
Hasta luego!

Menorca

I´m back from Menorca and we had a lot of success there! We won two of three stages, the general classification, and the team classification. For me I got 7th, 5th and 12th place, and 6th in the general. But we worked really well together and we are very happy about the results that we brought with us.
Now I´m in Switzerland and enjoy life!!
Recovery day today... We will see what the day has to offer :)
Next race will be Durango and Bira. The teams home races. I leave on monday.

Big infection in my teeth

Yesterday I woke up with the worse pain you can imagine, in my front teeth. The once I crashed 2003 when I was racing on skates. My four front teeth were hanging loose outside my mouth, but luckily Johan Granath was there (he is an old skater and also a dentist) and could assist at the accident. He took them and tried to put them back on it´s place. Just to try to make the nerves survive, the faster you get them back the bigger chance is for them to survive.
A lot of visits to the dentist later they thought two had survived. But as you could guess the pain I had wanted to tell me something! I called a dentist here in Båstad and made an appointment. He did an x-ray and saw two dead nerves(!) So I wasn´t that lucky after all.
So, I had to go through the hell once more...
He had to make a hole on the backside and try to clean out the whole tooth from there. Auch!! Since it was two teeth he had to make it twice, auch auch!!
When I got back home I took pain killers and just went to bed. Felt soo bad!!
When I woke up this morning my over lip felt twice the size... Called the dentist again and she told me that it could be a normal reaction and she gave me some antibiotics against the infection. Tried to train today, but my body didn´t respond.

Tomorrow I take off for Bilbao, and on Thursday the whole team goes to Menorca for a 3-days race there. I hope I will feel better then!
The worse thing is that I have to make this cleaning thing with my teeth again when I get back the 15th of June. Just to make sure that the infection is all gone, before they can start for real.
So I´m afraid that this story has just started :S

Anyway I´m happy I found this clinic cause they really seem to take care of their patients! Short of time before I had to go, but they made time for me. That´s what I call service!
Time for bed and try to get better!
Ciao

2nd Skandis and 1st Kinnekulle

I have done two races after Gracia. First one in Uppsala, a crit. Was 2nd after Sara Mustonen. After the race I followed Jessica, one of my team mates in my Swedish club, to her place. Stayed with her for a week and got good training company, before it was time for Kinnekulle last Sunday. It was a lap on 13km´s with one longer hill at around 2km´s. We did five laps, and on the third lap there were some attacks. When everything stopped I tried again and got away. Didn´t expect to get away but I had no choice then... Just to keep going! Thought they should catch me but they didn´t :) So got the first victory of the year. Fun!
Now I´m staying with Marie Lindberg in Helsingborg. First I thought I should stay at my parents house in Båstad, but we felt it was easier if I stayed here since we are training together this week. I´m getting spoiled with training company :) Tomorrow we have a rest day due! I really need it cause my legs feels terrible.
Next weekend I have two races in Halmstad. One time trial...

So long!

Båstad

Now I´m sitting in my parents summer house in Båstad on the swedish westcoast. Been here since friday, had to help my mum to fix the other house they have here cause there were some people that should rent it from yesterday.
Have been shining weather here :) Done some more training on my time trial bike, it start to feel good! Otherwise we have just been taking it easy...
I will soon drive my mum to Halmstad. She has to take the bus home to Stockholm cause I need the car when I come back from Gracia Tour to take me home to Kalmar. But I´ll stay here until tuesday, and then the national team comes and pick me up and we all go to Chech Republic together.
See ya!

Sweden

Came to Sweden yesterday. Had time to go and get my new time trial bike :) It looks really nice, specially with the new wheels that I got for birthday present from Thomas. I haven´t tried it yet due, but I will in a few hours.
Now I also know that I´m selected to do Gracia Tour with the national team, and we are leaving on tuesday. Will be fun!
I forgot to update and tell you that I manage to delete my record over Sattelegg before I left Switzerland :)
My new record is 39.35 and I realized that it´s more then 10km, it´s 10.8km.
Now it´s time for core training before I can get out on my bike.
Take care

Races in Holland

We didn´t got a perfect start on our trip to Holland. Three of my team mates were flying from Bilbao via Madrid, and then two other girls were supposed to fly with the same plan from Madrid. The problem was that the plan was overbooked so they had to wait for the next flight to Amsterdam, which was more then 3 hours later. It all ended with a very late arrival to the hotel. Came in bed around 1:30 am, so no time for training or massage...

The day after it was time for the race in Dwingeloo, a 1.1 race. My legs were quit okay and it felt good. But it was a crazy race, 147 girls and everyone wanted to stay in the front, which resulted in a lot of crashes! I was lucky to be able to stay on my bike but with 10km to go there was a big crash that split up the whole group and I came in with the second group as 67th, 1.29 after.

On Saturday it was a new day, a new race and new chances. Just that I didn´t got such a big chance... Another crash made my day hard. This time all ready after like 37km, and after 38km the days only pave at 2.2km came. Had to chase hard for almost 50km to catch the first group, just that it was just before Vamberg started (a steep hill with 23%), and this we had to do five times. Third time up the hill the group was divided into two, and after been chasing the half race I was too tired to follow the strongest girls. So another day in second group, and a 68th place.

One day rest and then time for the first world cup, for me, for this year.
This time I kept away from all the crashes, but I heard a lot of ugly sounds from behind...
I got other problems instead!
With around 10km left to the finish my bike felt strange, and I heard some sound from my pedal. All the sudden I had my pedal, with crank, lose in my shoe(!) Called for a new bike and while I was waiting for my team car to get to me I was pedaling with one leg :S Didn´t wanted to lose too much time... Got a new bike and managed to get back to the group. The speed was not so high then, since there were a lot of girls away all ready, so I could finish in the group. Got 53rd..
Another girl that made the race fast, fastest of them all, was Emma that won the race. She also took over the overall jersey in the world cup. Amazing!! Congratulations Emma :)

Now I´m in Switzerland, but not for so much longer. On Tuesday I go home to Sweden. I have bought a time trial bike, a Cervélo, and it´s in Sweden waiting for me. I hope I like it :)
Hasta luego!

A long and nice ride in the sun

Today has been a good day. Did five hours in wonderful weather! 26´C and sunny. In weather like this you can go on for ever...
Got 145 km´s and my legs felt good.
The time after the training until now I´ve been spending on the balcony. Ate a little bit first and then I fell asleep(!) Nice :)
Tomorrow I have a recovery day and then on Thursday I take off for Holland. Will do three races, two 1.1 races and one world cup. Will be hard!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE !!

The spring is here again :)

Is it not lovelly when the sun is shining and it starts to get a little bit warmer again!?

I just love it :)

Today I´ve had a recovery day. Went out on my bike for one and a half hour, had woundeful weather! Took a long and warm bath when I came back with a book in my hands. Very relaxing.

The afternoon I´ve been spending at the sofa, watching Ronde van Vlaanderen. Or if I should be honest I was sleeping a lot too ;)

Emma http://www.emmajohansson.com/ took the third place today at the women´s race!! Congratulations!!

Now I will continue to see the DVD box "24" It´s just soo good! But I have to save some for Holland next week.

Some days it feels great to be a cyclist!

2nd on VIII Balmasedako Emakumeen Saria

Saturday was a cold and rainy day, and I had my first race of the year!
We did three small laps and one big. On the big lap there were two hills, one on five km´s. When we went out on the big lap there were two girls away with a small gap. When we reached the hill we could almost see them so I attacked. Got two riders on my wheel..
Catched both of the girls infront, but they droped, and on the top we were three girls. In the downhill just before the finish one of the girls attacked, and I just couldn´t follow. It was totally dangerous to go so fast in the corners when it was that slippery!!
I took the other girl in the sprint and got on 2nd place. Quit happy with my race, but when I was so close I just wanted to win!!
It is fun to get started anyway, and now I´m back in Switzerland and prepairing for Holland, in less then two weeks.
So long, Catrine

Spring yesterday and winter today

Yesterday we had 10´c and sun. Perfect weather to go over Sattelegg. First time this year and ofcourse I clocked myself :) If I don´t have anyone to train with at least I can train against myself...
It took me 44:30 to get me to the top yesterday, quit okay for being in March. My record is 39:55 due but that was in May last year.
Today when I woke up and looked out trough my window it was snowing(!)
Such a different it could be just from day to day. Went on my indoor bike today...
I want to have summer!!
Now it´s only four days left to race..!

Only six days left until the season starts

Came back from my third trainingcamp yesterday. Had two more weeks with good training. Both Madelene and Jessica were really good to train with, the training gets so much better/harder if you have some one to train with. And also dad impressed me :)
Now I hope I´m well prepaird for the season!

My first race will be in Balmaseda, Spain on Saturday. It will also be the first time I meet my team mates for this year. We will have some new girls in the team aswell. Will be fun to meet them.

We will also get a new sponsor and new colours.
I like it :)

Taking off for Mallorca tomorrow, again :)

Two weeks pass fast!
Can´t remember what I have done... Had some easy days directly after Mallorca, and then we got a visit from Sweden. A friend of Thomas, and his girlfriend stayed here for a few days. We went to see the Lindt fabric. I have passed the fabric a lot of times, and yes it smells wounderful, but I have never been in it. So it was on time! Mmm, choclat :)
This week I´ve been training quit easy aswell, since I go for another two weeks tomorrow. This time my dad meets me up from Sweden together with two friends to me, Jessica and Madelen. Also cyclists. Fun with company on my trainings again!
Now I have to pack.
Soo long!

Trainingcamp #2 is finished

So, now I´m back in Switzerland again. Had two good weeks on Mallorca! In the last minute I got company from my team mate, Mireia and her boyfriend. They stayed with me and my mum for one week. It was fun with company!
I also turned 23 while we were there, got a spa visit with mum as a birthday present. We spended four hours at the spa, and we also got a massage. Really nice and relaxing, perfect restday!
And on my birthday I got a visit from Marie Lindberg, wich was fun! She was there with her team and lived in the next village just, so not so far away..

Came back from Mallorca yesterday. Quit late but had time to see the finish of Tour of California.
Today I had brunch with my swedish friends in Zurich :) Had almost no dinner yesterday, except for the ordinary sandwich you get on the plane, and we didn´t meet until 10 o´clock this morning so I could eat a lot!!
After the brunch I spend the rest of the day with my friend Carolin at her place.
Watched "Australia". Quit good. Then we made some dinner and do what girls are best at, talk!! Also a fun relaxing restday.
Now I´m sitting at home and watching the last stage of Tour of California. Crossing my fingers for Thomas!!

Taking off for Mallorca

Today at 5 pm I leave for Mallorca. It will be nice!! My mum will meet me up from Sweden. This time it will be just me and her. We will stay in Alcúdia and will be gone for two weeks. This trainingcamp will be a lot of intensity... In other words, hard! But less hours due.
I hope it will be good.

Yesterday I had a restday and I spend it well :) I just let the pictures speak for them self...

23/01/2009

Trainingcamp #1 is finished

I got a lot of long and nice rides on Gran Canaria! In the end I were tired due, but after almost 60 hours in 15 days, I think that´s normal... Now I´m in Switzerland for the first time this year. A bit cold but I have just been taking it easy. Will try to recover as much as I can and prepair for my second trainingcamp on Mallorca, 7th of February. Only two weeks left...
Take care,
Catrine

Training record :)

I´m still having a great time here...
Two days ago I did my longest training ever, in all kind of ways.
Emma Johansson (http://www.emmajohansson.com) is also here and I got a perfect day with her and her boyfriend Martin. We went around the whole island. It took us 7 hours and 30 minutes. 198 kilometers and 3678 meters of climbing. I weren´t much of help just sitting behind, but believe me, I had to take my as up the hills myself anyway ;) It was a quit hard day, first time I do over six hours, but it was fun! The time went by fast.
Yesterday I had a restday. I think I needed it. Spend it on the beach with mum again. Had perfect weather for the beach, sunny and around 22-25´C.
Today I were alone, did 4:40. Tomorrow I hope I get company, either by Jessica or Emma and Martin. The time goes a little bit faster with company.
